Virginia
Maria
Romero is an award winning
artist whose works reflect original contemporary designs that express the distinctive voice of their
creator. The style, color and compositions of her acrylics as well as her retablos continue to
exhibit her uniqueness and creative quality. Romero is a passionate artist whose work
permeates her enthusiasm and love for nature and it's elements.
Nationally recognized as a "visionary artist," Romero develops designs
beyond age-old formats and expectations. Mosaic composition and coloration
reference both historical gold-plated European iconography and elements of the new world.
Among familiar symbolic icons, look for images that evoke mythology or environmental flora and
fauna. In the faces of archetypal figures find sparks of personality that bring them into a
21st century existence. Self-taught, Romero explains that she is inspired by life's changes,
creating artworks in a variety of media and formats, while consistently communicating her
personal vision of a life that is positive and open to the future.
Reviews of Romero's artworks have appeared in New Mexico Magazine,
Tradicion Revista, Desert Exposure, Ventanas de Valle, and Pasatiempo/New Mexican.
A painted pony of her design is referenced in the Trail of the Painted Ponies
Collectors Edition, 2004, and Trail of the Painted Ponies/Ride the Sky, 2007.
Romero's work has been selected for collections that include the San
Miguel Mission; El Museo Cultural of Santa Fe; the Bruce King Heritage Museum ;
Mesilla Town Hall; Maria Stein Heritage Museum/National Marian Shrine or Holy Relics;
Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish. Romero is a full time
painter who lives and works in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Virginia "Ginny" Romero is a prolific artist that is constantly creating
new images and original master pieces. Many of her images of both retablos and desert
animals have been formatted and reproduced through sublimation/dye printing to tile.
Each tile image is selected and scrutinized by the artist before being printed and made available to the
wholesalers for purchase.
